The 4th Annual WWAAC Leaders and Legends Awards is recognizing the accomplishments of (4) four dedicated and successful Asian Americans who serve as role models throughout the nation - on August 29th at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center in Atlanta.
These distinguished Honorees are being celebrated because of their service, contribution, and dedication not only to the Asian community, but to mainstream America as well. The 2009 Who’s Who in Asian American Communities Leaders & Legends

Through a national selection process, the four elite winners met rigorous standards, faced tough competition from other nominees and, finally, passed the scrutiny of the selection committee made-up of former WWAAC Honorees. Each honoree adds a special and unique quality to the distinguished list of former WWAAC Honorees, which includes government officials, entrepreneurs, artists, and community servants, among others.
For over one hundred-fifty years, Asian Americans have made enormous contributions to the prosperity and success of this great nation. While there are many different Who’s Who organizations recognizing outstanding members of our society, very few, if any, focus on the prominent Asian Americans who have been our role models for success, great contributors to our community and to the nation, and distinguished figures in their own professions.

 Golden Bones, the memoir of a Cambodian refugee, Sichan Siv, begins and ends as an inspiring recollection of how a series of poignant circumstances turned a man once leading a privileged life into a slave under the rule of Pol Pot. Risking life and limb, Siv, escaped the killing fields of Cambodia and managed to gain sponsorship to immigrate to the United States. With only a few dollars in his pocket, Golden Bones goes into detail about the trials and tribulations that led a poor refuge to eventually become a U.S. Ambassador the United Nations.

Washington, DC – Today, US Asia Center (USAC) Chairman Rudy Pamintuan announced that USAC would host the Asian American Business Leaders Roundtable on August 8, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The event will be a daylong series of roundtable discussions with local Asian American Chamber leaders from throughout the United States. Topics to be discussed will range from the positive impact of Asian investment into the American economy, federal programs available to Asian American owned businesses, best practices amongst local Asian American Chambers and incentives of “going green.”
Success stories within the Asian American community will also be highlighted.
Confirmed speakers include former US Ambassador Sichan Siv and former Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta.
 “The Asian American Business Leaders Roundtable will be a wonderful opportunity for active Asian American business leaders to network and learn about the various opportunities at the international and local levels. With this information, attendees can share this rich information to their respective chambers and institute programs for greater economic development within our community.” Rudy Pamintuan continued, “The participation of former US Ambassador Sichan Siv and Secretary Norman Mineta will offer an added dimension of inspiration.”

Over 150 participants attended the final symposium in a multi-city tour to address the state of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) businesses in the United States. The symposium took place on February 5 in Kansas City, Missouri and was co-sponsored by U.S. Asia Center, U.S. Asian Business Council, Asian American Chamber of Commerce-Kansas City, Lockton Inc., and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. |
